Somewhere in their twenties, men start to care about bed sheets, deodorant and top shelf liquor.

They buy a plant and maybe even water it. They find their own doctors, fashion labels, and products.

Our founder, Nicolas, set out to develop a skincare line for this moment of burgeoning adulthood. He wanted to create a gentleman’s brand, something that said, “I no longer go to the supermarket to buy what my mom bought me.” Something they wouldn’t hide behind a mirror cabinet, but proudly display in front of it.

So Nicolas partnered with Michael Verdes to design and launch his independent line, Slightly Sinister.

Logo and Packaging

We may no longer live in the Wild West, but that does not mean we can’t feel like an outlaw and behave like a hero. Our logo, language, and packaging invoke the romance of a rugged cabin with a bear-skin rug; they call to mind the black-and-white duality of sheriffs and bandits, sharing a pint in the saloon between epic showdowns. The man who uses our products goes to an old-fashioned barber shop and then swaggers into a speakeasy and drinks an old fashioned. He delivers an account-winning presentation in a conference room and then boards a jet to a remote island. He cares about how he presents himself to the world. His identity is his consumption.

Brand Strategy

It wasn’t enough to focus on the outside of a bottle. The kind of man who cares about packaging, also cares about what’s inside it. Nicolas and Michael sourced, tried, and alchemized all natural ingredients into products they could get behind. Good for men, good for the planet. Ahead of their time, they put cannabis in their moisturizer, activated charcoal in their face wash, and jojoba beads in their exfoliator. And they did it all in Portland, Oregon.
